Cynthia Valdez Biography

Cynthia Valdez, LMSW

Cynthia Valdez earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Houston with a concentration in Mental Health. Her internships included Counseling Associates of South Texas, Inc. (CAST, Inc.) and Montgomery County Women’s Center as a counselor. Those positions allowed her to work with adults, teens and children working a various issues and conduct groups for teens. She has worked with women, children and families for many years. Her work with the Star of Hope allowed her to work with those going through domestic violence, substance abuse and mental illness. In working with Communities in Schools Houston, Cynthia worked with at risk children and their families by bringing much needed resources to the school (for students and their families), facilitating groups for children and as Coordinator of the After School Program. As a social worker for Early Childhood Intervention, Cynthia helped families with the process of applying for much needed resources and earned her certification as an Early Intervention Specialist. She worked with families adjusting to life after learning their children would be in the category of “special needs.”

Cynthia conducts the court mandated Alcohol and Tobacco classes for Minors at CAST, Inc. She has been teaching these classes since 2008.
